Handcrafted to the highest standard in Germany, these Lebkuchenmühlen (Gingerbread Mills) are used to make the traditional German gingerbread:  Nürnberger Lebkuchen or Elisenlebkuchen, which translates to Nuremberg Gingerbread.

This type of gingerbread dates back to the 13th century and was first baked by monks in Franconia, a region in Southern Germany. This is the region where the Lebkuchenmühlen are still made to this day, by turnery Koenig, a small family run turnery in its third generation based in Wiesenbronn. They are unique in every kitchen and would also make a wonderful gift for the passionate baker.

The original gingerbread mill can easily be recognised by its trademark crank and is available in Australia exclusively through my Heimat. The mills are made from mahogany wood. The smallest size shapes gingerbread with a 5cm diameter. Other sizes will be available in future.

To learn how to use these little works of art, come along to my Heimat’s Nuremberg Gingerbread Workshop. And while the mills are made for Nuremberg Gingerbread, they also shape beautiful cookies and other biscuits.
